Wyara
Mana Potion
Prerequisite: You must have already touched the Mana Seed before doing this quest.

Wyara needs to create a Mana Potion for you before you can begin to learn Magic. The Mana Potion requires 40 Mauve Herbs and 1 Bottle of Water. Once the potion is made, drink it and go touch the Mana Seed again.

Rewards:
* 1,000 EXP
* General Magic Skill

Cure The Pond
Wyara will ask you to cure the pond at the west of Hurnscald. It is a very small pond with a rock in the middle. Wyara will ask you to create a special potion for the pond, twice. Each potion requires 20 Mauve Herbs and 20 Maggot Slimes. To purify the pond, use the potion while standing at the center of the pond but do not drop it! Dropping the potion will result in nothing.

Rewards:
* 5,000 EXP
* Nature Magic Skill Level 2

Sagatha
Sagatha will teach you spells only if you have achieved Level 2 in the General Magic Skill and also if your evil monster kill count is greater than your innocent creature kill count. You also have to complete the #Sagatha's Tree and #Injured Mouboo quests below before she will talk to you. She will teach you the #chipchip spell, which for example, can be used on Fluffies, to take their fur without killing them. The more you use it, the happier she will be.

Sagatha's Tree
If you speak to Wyara about training you once you are Level 2 in the General Magic Skill, she will talk you about a dying tree in the desert southeast from Tulimshar that needs to be helped. Use the #kaflosh spell (requires Nature Magic Skill and General Magic Skill, both at Level 2). You also need to hug Sagatha's Tree by typing in your chat tab: "/me hug tree" while being next to the tree. You will receive 20,000 EXP after saving the tree.

Injured Mouboo
Begin by going west from Hurnscald, then proceed north from Auldsbel's house. Enter the cave with a "Danger" sign near it (the other entrance is the path to Mana Seed cave). He is located on the 2nd level at the south end outside once you are out of the cave. You can use the #inma spell, "#inma mouboo (not "boo"!)" on the Injured Mouboo to heal it but you must have Level 2 Life Magic first. If you don't have Life Magic Level 2, then give him a large potion. You will receive 5,000 EXP for saving the injured Mouboo.

Earth Spirit
The Earth Spirit stands in the Tulimshar's desert.

Dark Path Of Magic
The Earth Spirit can teach you the Dark Path of Magic. In order to be taught in this path, you will have to kill the Injured Mouboo with the Bone Knife and cut Sagatha's Tree with the Bone Knife (writing "cut"). You will also need to pay 100,000 GP to be his student and will continue to ask you for quite a lot of money for each Nature Magic Skill spell.

Light Path Of Magic
If you have already chosen to kill the Injured Mouboo or cut Sagatha's Tree, you are already on the Dark Path of Magic. If you have not done these things, you are still on the light path for now.

Talking with him is currently not that recommended because you won't be able later to learn Nature Magic with Wyara or Astral Magic with Sagatha : if you chose the Dark Path of Magic, the Earth Spirit he will only teach you Nature Magic. Wyara and Sagatha will also refuse to speak to you once achieved the first quest proposed by the Earth Spirit.

If you healed the Injured Mouboo and/or hugged Sagatha's Tree, you won't be able to kill the Injured Mouboo and/or cut Sagatha's Tree and will stay on the Light Path of Magic.

Elanore The Healer
Creating Lifestones
Elanore asks you to fetch 10 of each herb. In return, she will create 5 Lifestones. You will also recieve 100 EXP each time. Later, when you have a greater control of magic, which means after touching the Mana Seed for the second time, she will teach you #manpahil to create the Lifestones yourself.

Get Life Magic Skill Level 2
Elanore will take a closer look at you to see if you are a good healer. To be a good healer, you must heal a lot of players who really need to be healed with #lum "name". When you heal a player, you will receive EXP in (the more damage you heal, the more EXP you earn). When you have healed enough players, she will give you Life Magic Skill Level 2 and teach you #inma, the greatest healing spell currently in the game.

Auldsbel
Auldsbel is a wizard living in a house west of Hurnscald.

Spells
* #miteyo is mostly a training spell for the General Magic Skill.
* #parum boo - After that Auldsbel will see Mouboo Figurine you created (you can't buy one and do it), he will accept you as true apprentice and give you his blessing (5,000 EXP and the Transmutation Magic Skill Level 2).
* #patloree - Cost - 20 Mauve Herbs
* #patmuploo - Cost - 10 Scorpion Stingers
* #kularzufrill - Cost - 20 Raw Logs, Reward 1,000 EXP

For more details on spells, see the Magic Spells page.

Helping With Experiments
You can help Auldsbel with his experiments to earn gold and EXP. You do not have to know magic to perform this section. These must be done in order as they are laid out below:

# Turn in 20 Mauve Herbs. You will receive 2,500 GP and 500 EXP.
# Turn in 1 Concentration potion, 1 Iron potion, 3 Small Healing Potions, and 3 Medium Healing Potions. Small Healing potions are obtainable by the Monsters Points Quest. You will need to meet Caul The Alchemist to obtain Medium Healing Potions. If possible, set your intelligence to 35 by resetting your stats with Malivox, to make potions more quickly. You will receive 2,500 GP and 500 EXP.
You will receive 10,000 GP and 100,000 EXP. Warning: he will spawn 4 Grass Snakes so be prepared to fight or run!

The Magic Swords are two twin sisters buried in the rock. They will teach you many spells from the War Magic Skill. One stands in the river in the cave underneath the Hurnscald's Inn, the other is the middle of the river separating the Dimond's Cove from the woods to the west. If one refuses to talk to you, then try with the other.

You will need to save some monster points to be able to learn your spells!

Hinnak is located north of Hurnscald. He wants a beer and if you give one to him, he will tell you about the #kalmurk spell.
When you set up your own TMW server and want it to be open for public playing feel free to add it here. To create your own server read Setting up a server. Prerequisite for being listed on this page is having a server which is/was publicly playable, but incompatible with the original TMW client (compatible servers are listed on the "Servers" page) and releasing a modified version of the TMW client software under the terms of the GNU GPL (this means making the source code available!).

-->
The open source nature of The Mana World (TMW) allows anyone to use it as a base for creating their own game. A lot of teams have made use of this opportunity to develop their own games. Projects listed on this page do not work with the official client. Projects that work with the official client are listed in the Servers.
Active forks
These are projects which are still in active development.

Aethyra
A fork of TMW based on the eAthena branch with most of its contents from the original TMW, and plenty of custom content.

* http://www.aethyraproject.org

Evol Online
Resurrected old evol project in development. Now available in multiple languages. This project includes its own server which is built on TMW's eAthena fork and it includes its own client. The game uses GPL graphics.
Inactive forks
These are projects which are unfortunately, not in active development anymore.

Sirus Online
An eAthena-based branch formed by people frustrated with the management of Endless Online. It had a good start until most of its players and some developers prefer to play and develop the original TMW.

Damasca
A project very similar in scope to TMW, although programmed in C# instead of C++. When the development slowed down due to insufficient manpower, developers attempted to rescue the project by using TMWserv and the TMW client, which were already too developed. Unfortunately, it did not turn out so well.

Mundo Dos Dragões ( World of Dragons )
My Path Online
Because TMW is smaller and more personal than many other MMORPGs, the structure of the economy is slightly different. For one thing, player-to-player trading is more difficult. Also, it is less effective to "buy" prestige through rare items.
Killing bats are no longer an easy way to make money by selling to NPCs, although Arkim proposes a very short, valuable and redoable forever quest, if you're at least level 20 (see also the Daily Quests page).

The Bat Wings (30%) can be sold in great quantities to other players at a low price using ManaMarket. Bats also drop Bat Teeth (20%) which are not valuable anymore, unlike the Daggers (0.7%). They also drop Maggot Slimes (8%) and Bug Legs (4%), both which are magic supplies. Combined with the relative ease of killing them, bats are an easy way for patient people to make money. The Bats are more numerous in the cave at the west of Hurnscald.

Other good targets that drop magic supplies are for example Fire Goblins (Pile Of Ash), Squirrels (Herbs), Log Heads (Roots, Logs) and Spiky Mushrooms (Hard Spike, and valuable Iron Potion).

In addition, as soon as you are strong enough, it is possible to focus on Yellow Slimes (Iron Ore), Sea Slimes (Concentration Potion, Pearl) and Red Slimes (Boots, Dagger, Miner Gloves, Leather Shirt, Miner Hat, Ruby).

Hi guys. altbdoor here. I'm 19 years old, living somewhere in South-East Asia. First, actually I have a lot of names...
#I draw under the moniker Carbon Artist Monk-ed. You can check out my works at my DeviantArt page.
#I also write some pretty simple Visual C programs under the name altbdoor as well. You can check the release in my Blogger.
#And of course, I play The Mana World too. My username is "altbdoor", in game and in forums too.

Why altbdoor?
A friend of mine always say that there is always an alternative backdoor to any problems. I sort of grew fond of the name and made it shorter, thus altbdoor.

Why Mana World?
Actually, I'm living in a country which provide pretty bad Internet connections. So, I suffer from throttled and slow download/upload speeds (Well, not to complain. There are people who suffer worse...). I looked around for a good MMORPG which is not too tasking on my computer (All Intel Media Accelerators, thank you). And I found The Mana World. Thus, begins my journey in this game of pixelated wonders and maggots.

Why Are You Here?
To help make this wiki more awesome. I've been to several wiki pages in my life, and seen some awesome ones. But they're well developed. Don't think I could do much there then. Considering how The Mana World is still pretty new, I decided to help out, and perhaps etch this on my tomb as one of my achievements and tell my grandsons, I was a part of something big.

Basics
* Welcome to The Mana World. Sorfina will introduce you to the game and the world. Firstly, you will learn the 6 important rules of the game which are pretty simple to follow:
:#Do not abuse other players (insults, swearing, and the like directed to a particular person or persons).
:#No bots (and botting means any activity while away from keyboard) at all.
:#No spamming / flooding (including trade spam).
:#No begging.
:#Speak english on public chat.
:#Treat others the same way you would like to be treated.
* Please keep the rules in mind while playing the game and follow them.
* You learn that you just woke up after your boat collapsed and find yourself in Tulimshar. You lost all your possessions as they have been stolen while you were passed out.
* Walk up to the red carpet and Sorfina will tell you to open the chest in the room. Take the Cotton Shirt in it and equip it.
* Talk to Sorfina after you've equipped the Cotton Shirt. She then gives you more information on where you are and etc. Exit the house and take a look around.

Training
* After you have done exploring Tulimshar, locate the house where Tanisha is and enter the house. Talk to her.
* Tanisha gives you a knife and tells you to kill the maggots as training. Kill 5 maggots. You will get some EXP (5 * 6 EXP), which will level up your character.
* When you are done with the maggots, talk to Tanisha. She will inform you about things such as status points, since you just leveled up.
* Check out your Stat Points and try to increase your stats. For starters, it is advisable to increase your Strength, Vitality and Dexterity. Intelligence will be useful later in the game, when you know a bit of magic.
* For more information on Stat Points, you can read on Stats and Raising your stats on the Walkthrough page.

A Start of Adventure
* As you go east of Tanisha's house, you try to go pass Hasan, but he unfortunately stops you. Don't try to kill him, as you will probably die by doing this.
* Talk to Kaan, and tell her about the maggots you've just killed. Also tell her that Hasan isn't letting you pass.
* You now need to know what is Hasan's weakness. Come back to Tanisha and tell her everything about Hasan. She will tell you that he is awfully scared of scorpions.
* Tell Kaan about the scorpions, and you will plot against Hasan. Talk to him and scratch your head as a signal. Kill the scorpion that has just appeared!
* Talk to Hasan and he will give you a Sharp Knife for what you did. He proposes you to go to Tulimshar's bazar, you can accept.
* You are now done with the Tutorial and you are free to explore The Mana World! Congratulations!
Because TMW is smaller and more personal than many other MMORPGs, the structure of the economy is slightly different. For one thing, player-to-player trading is more difficult. Also, it is less effective to "buy" prestige through rare items.

Profitable to sell to shops
* Root - 200 GP
* Iron Potion - 250 GP
* Miner Hat - 400 GP
* Boots - 500 GP
* Dagger - 500 GP
* Fancy Hat - 800 GP
* Miner Gloves - 1,000 GP
* Pearl - 3,000 GP

Killing bats is no longer an easy way to make money by selling to NPCs, although Arkim proposes a very short, valuable and redoable forever quest, if you're at least level 20 (see also the Daily Quests page).

Profitable to trade with other players
* Miscellaneous - Bones, Diseased Hearts, Gems (Ruby, Topaz, etc...), Herbs, Terranite Ores
* Magic ingredients - Ashes, Hard Spikes, Iron Powders, Raw Logs, Roots, Small Mushrooms, Sulphur Powders
* Quest items - Black Scorpion Stingers, Coal, Iron Ingot, Iron Ore, Raw Logs, Snake Skins, Snake Tongues (Regular, mountain, grass, cave), White Fur
* Rare items - see below

Commonly traded items
* Snake Skin – 1,500 → 4,000 GP
* Iron Ore – 1,000 → 1,500 GP
* Coal – 500 → 900 GP
